The Ferocactus gracilis is a beautiful cactus species that occurs naturally from Baja Calafornia to northern America. Here the Ferocactus gracilis grows in different types of areas. However, they are all very dry with lots of sun.

The Ferocactus gracilis has beautiful intense red spines that are slightly curved at the end. When the Ferocactus gracilis gets a lot of sun, the color of its spines becomes more intense. The plant body of this cactus is dark green in color with white-gray areoles. The Ferocactus gracilis can grow into a large cactus. Fortunately, this will take several decades. The Ferocactus gracilis grows like a ball cactus during the first part of its life. When the plant is between 20-25 cm in diameter, it will grow in height. Ultimately, the Ferocactus gracilis can grow to a height of 3.5 meters.

The Ferocactus gracilis will bloom with us in the summer. Ferocactus gracilis cacti often only bloom when they have a diameter of 25 cm. It can help to place this cactus outside in a sunny place in the summer. This can help the cactus bloom.
