Information

The Frailea Castanea is a beautiful symmetrical dwarf cactus. The Frailea Castanea rarely reaches a diameter greater than 4 cm. Ideal if you have little space or you like small cacti. The Frailea Castanea occurs naturally in Brazil and in the north of Uruguay. Here the Frailea Castanea grows in sandy and stony areas between grass plants. These grass plants give the Frailea Castanea the necessary protection against the intense sun.

Something truly unique about the Frailea genus is that these cacti can produce seeds without their flowers ever opening. The Frailea Castanea blooms with 4 cm large yellow flowers. Our flowers only open on very hot summer days.

The Frailea Castanea has a small taproot in which the cactus stores water for the rest period. The Frailea Castanea can then also partially withdraw into the ground.
