This is an Opuntia Inamoena, a rare cactus species without spines! You can pet these like you would your pet, without ending up with spines in your hands. This Opuntia is found in eastern Brazil. It was one of the most common cacti in the region. Mining and deforestation there pose a serious threat to the beautiful leaf cactus. The leaves of this cactus feel fleshy and can grow up to 3.5 cm thick. In spring, beautiful red flowers may appear on top of the leaves. It is a slow growing cactus. This keeps it from getting too big too quickly. Although this leaf cactus grows slowly, Ikhebeencactus has selected large specimens with multiple leaves for you.
