Information

The Parodia chrysacanthion is a beautiful cactus species that occurs naturally in the Argentine province of Jujuy. Here this cactus grows between rocks on open hill plains in wooded areas.

The Parodia chrysacanthion has a beautiful light green color and is covered with many fine spines. The spines have a light brown to yellow color. On top of the cactus, its areoles have a small white wool layer. In its first years, this cactus grows in a spherical shape. When it gets older, it changes more to a columnar shape. Ultimately, the Parodia chrysacanthion can reach a height of 15 cm with a diameter of 8-10 cm.

The Parodia chrysacanthion is an easy bloomer and often produces many flowers at the same time. Its flowering period is in the spring. Light-colored woolly buds first appear from the top of the cactus, which grow into bright yellow flowers on sunny days.
