The Parodia mairanana is a beautiful cactus species that occurs naturally in Bolivia. Here it grows in dry rocky areas and grasslands near the town of Mariana. This is also where the second name of this Parodia came from.

The Parodia mairanana has a beautiful dark green color. Her areoles are light brown in color. Her fine spines grow from this. The center spines have a curved end. This is why it looks like a hook. The Parodia mairanana is an average grower and can reach a diameter of 8-10 cm after many years. When this cactus gets older, it will also sprout regularly. The new young plants grow from the sides of the cactus. This way you get a nice full cluster with these plants.

The Parodia mairanana is an easy bloomer. She often does this several times in the summer and autumn. Beautiful bright orange-red flowers appear from the top of the cactus. Please note: this cactus is flowering in the photo, but is not offered flowering all year round.
