The Schlumbergera is a beautiful member cactus that occurs naturally in Brazil. Here it already grows epiphytically on other trees and plants. This lid cactus is found in Brazil in a small mountainous area in the Brazilian coastal regions near São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

These Schlumbergeras do not originate from Brazil. They are bred for flower color. As a result, the most beautiful hybrids have been selected and further bred. The flowering period is usually from October to April. During this period they often bloom several times. The flower buds appear in large numbers on top of the leaves. Because these Schlumbergera lid cacti often bloom at Christmas or Easter, they are also called the Christmas cactus or Easter cactus.
