Information

The Tacinga Palmadora is related to the Opuntia leaf cactus. In nature, the Tacinga Palmadora occurs in Brazil. Here this cactus grows between rocks in sandy dry subtropical to tropical areas.

The Tacinga Palmadora grows by making new leaves just like the Opuntia. These are intense green in color and can grow up to 16 cm long and 8 cm wide. The spines that form the leaves of this cactus are yellow-brown in color. The nice thing about the Tacinga Palmadora is that it can bloom profusely at a young age. Beautiful orange-red flowers appear at the tips of the leaves of this cactus. When these are fertilized they turn into green fruits.

The Tacinga Palmadora falls under the subtropical cacti. This allows it to withstand short periods of up to 2 °C. But this cactus prefers to overwinter at a temperature of at least 10 °C.
