The Agave potatorum produces small gray-green leaves. The leaves of this Agave have an elongated triangle shape and grow upwards. The edges of the leaves are covered with small brown spines. The longer and wider main thorn of the Agave is located on the tip of the leaf.

Eventually, over the years, the Agave potatorum can grow into a large plant of up to 90 cm in diameter. The Agave potatorum usually takes decades to grow.
