The Aloe Erinacea is a beautiful Aloe species that is very popular for its characteristic appearance. In nature, this Aloe occurs in Namibia. Here the Aloe Erinacea grows on rocky and sandy hills.

The Aloe Erinacea has compact blue-green leaves that grow upwards. Rows of small, thick spines grow on the sides and undersides of the leaves. At first these spines have a light green color. Later they turn brown to brown-red in color. The Aloe Erinacea is a very slow grower. In nature, plants have been found up to 50 cm high. The Aloe Erinacea takes many 10 years to do this. In culture, this Aloe can sometimes remain the same size for years.

The Aloe Erinacea is not an easy bloomer. Few flowering plants are also found in nature. The Aloe Erinacea usually blooms in the summer. A long flower stem with many orange bell-shaped flowers grows from the heart of the plant.
