Information

The Euphorbia gorgonis is a unique Euphorbia species that occurs naturally in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. Here the Euphorbia gorgonis often grows completely withdrawn and close to the ground. This makes the Euphorbia gorgonis well camouflaged and sometimes difficult to find.

The Euphorbia gorgonis has a green color. This Euphorbia consists of a round base plant part from which the many short, thinner side arms grow. Small leaves grow on these side arms that dry up again during rest. The flowers of the Euphorbia gorgonis also appear on the side arms of the plant. They are very small and have a yellow color. The Euphorbia gorgonis, like other Euphorbia species, is either male or female. This means you need plants from both sexes to get seeds.

The Euphorbia gorgonis is a very slow grower. You can see that many new side arms are added every year, but the middle part only grows a few millimeters per year.
