Information

The Fenestraria Rhopalophylla is a nice and special succulent. The Fenestraria Rhopalophylla occurs in nature along coastal areas from South Africa to Namibia. Here this succulent grows in sandy, calcareous soil. Often in nature, during a long dry period, only the top of the leaves can be seen. The rest of the Fenestraria Rhopalophylla has then completely withdrawn into the sand. Because the tops of the leaves are transparent, sunlight still enters the leaf and photosynthesis takes place.

The leaves are light green in color and transparent. The shape makes them reminiscent of little toes. This is why the Fenestraria Rhopalophylla is nicknamed baby toes. The flowers appear between the leaves on stems. The color can vary from white to golden yellow. Our flowering time varies from late autumn, throughout winter to early spring.

The roots of the Fenestraria Rhopalophylla are sensitive. It is therefore advisable not to repot them too often. Another nice side effect is that they bloom more profusely in a smaller pot.
