The Ferocactus latispinus is a beautiful and robust cactus species. In nature, this cactus occurs in Mexico. Here it grows in a large and diverse area. From rocky plains to dry grass areas.

The Ferocactus latispinus has a dark green color. The center spines are provided at the end and flat on top. This makes them very sturdy. The side thorns are pointed and straight. The color of the spines varies from brown to red. The red color depends on the amount of sunlight. If you give this Ferocactus latispinus a nice sunny spot, its spines will turn a beautiful red. The Ferocactus latispinus is an average grower and can eventually grow into a bulb of 45 cm wide and 40 cm high.

The Ferocactus latispinus blooms from a diameter of 10 cm. Usually at the end of summer. It is not an easy cactus to get into flowering. For this she really needs a lot of sunlight in the summer. Beautiful bright purple flowers grow from the areoles on the head of the cactus.
