Information

The Ferocactus peninsulae is a beautiful and variable cactus species. This Ferocactus occurs naturally in a large area in the Mexican state of Baja Calafornia. Here the Ferocactus peninsulae grows in rocky and sandy areas with lots of sun.

The Ferocactus peninsulae has a beautiful dark green color. The spines have a light brown to brown color. The center spine is shaped differently than her other spines. This is flatter, longer and curves downwards at the end. In addition to its central spines, the Ferocactus peninsulae also has a number of small side-growing thin white spines. When this cactus grows to really large sizes, they slowly disappear.

The Ferocactus peninsulae is not a fast grower, but over the years it can grow into a large-sized cactus. In nature, Ferocactus peninsulae cacti measuring 2.5 meters high and 70 cm wide have been found.

The Ferocactus peninsulae is a Ferocactus species that will soon bloom. She does this in the summer. It helps flowering if you give it a warm and really sunny spot in the summer. The flowers then appear from the areoles on top of the cactus. They are variable in color and can be colored from red to yellow. The flowers also have a dark center stripe on the petals. When the flowers are pollinated, the Ferocactus peninsulae produces beautiful yellow fruits on top of the plant. This contains the seeds and when they are ripe they burst open.
