Information
Information
The Jatropha podagrica is a beautiful caudex plant. In nature, this Jatropha occurs in Central America, where this plant grows in subtropical areas.
The Jatropha podagrica produces a beautifully shaped light brown caudex. It somewhat resembles the shape of a bottle. This is why the Jatropha podagrica has also been nicknamed the bottle plant. By the caudex we mean the tuber from which its leaves grow. Its caudex uses the Jatropha cathartica to store large amounts of water. This allows her to survive a long period of drought.
From its caudex the Jatropha podagrica forms small fresh green stems with leaves. This plant blooms regularly throughout the year. Orange flowers then grow between the upper leaves. The Jatropha podagrica has a rest period. She loses a lot of her leaves here. Usually this is in winter. Give it a little less water until you see it start to sprout again. When this plant is kept warm it may also remain in leaves all year round.
