The Echinocereus dasyacanthus var. ctenoides is a beautiful cactus species with fine spines. These plants have the appearance of plants that grow in nature west of the town of Muzquiz in Coahuila, Mexico.

The Echinocereus dasyacanthus var. ctenoides has a dark green color. Light-colored woolly areolas grow on her ribs. Her small light brown spines grow from this. The Echinocereus dasyacanthus var. ctenoides is a slow growing cactus. It can form side shoots, but they do grow as a solitary plant. After many years, this cactus can reach a height of 40 cm and a diameter of 10 cm.

The flowering period of the Echinocereus dasyacanthus var. ctenoides is in the spring. Beautiful yellow-orange flowers with a green stigma grow from the side of the cactus.

When this cactus overwinters in completely dry soil, the Echinocereus dasyacanthus var. ctenoides tolerate temperatures down to -15°C
