Information

The Epiphyllum guatemalense monstruosa is a beautiful Epiphyllum species that occurs naturally in Guatemala. Here are a number of plants found with curly growing leaves. This was further cultivated and this beautiful Epiphyllum guatemalense monstruosa plant was created. The Epiphyllum guatemalense monstruosa has been given the nickname curl leaf cactus due to the shape of its leaves.

In nature, the Epiphyllum guatemalense monstruosa grows in the armpits of tree branches, on moss or other objects. The leaves of the Epiphyllum guatemalense monstruosa grow to about 3 cm wide and 20 cm long. They have a beautiful green color and grow as if they have been wrapped around curlers.

The Epiphyllum guatemalense monstruosa will bloom here in the summer. Large bright white flowers then appear that usually open at night and no longer bloom for one day. The flowers open at night because the flowers of this Epiphyllum are pollinated in nature by bats and moths. When the flowers of the Epiphyllum guatemalense monstruosa have been successfully pollinated, beautiful round pink seed berries grow. These are edible and have a fresh-sweet taste.
