Information

The Eriosyce napina is a beautiful and small cactus species that occurs naturally in Chile. Here the Eriosyce napina grows in rocky areas in sandy and clay soil. In these areas the sun is intense and very little water falls. However, a lot of moisture from sea vapor precipitates on this cactus. This is how she keeps her water level. The Eriosyce napina also has a thick taproot. This cactus can store a lot of water in this to get through a long period of drought.

The Eriosyce napina is a slow grower and eventually grows into a cactus of 6-7 cm in diameter. However, the Eriosyce napina takes many years to do this. The Eriosyce napina has a dark color. Her skin is green to gray-brown in color and takes on a purple glow when this cactus gets a lot of sun. The spines are very small and black in color. These grow from small white woolly areoles.

The Eriosyce napina really likes to bloom. It is an easy-flowering cactus species. If she is happy with you, she will sometimes bloom several times in the spring and summer. The flowers of this cactus grow from the head of the plant. The color of the flowers is very variable from cream yellow to red pink.
