The stems of the Huernia volkartii var. repens change color with the tides each year. When this Huernia is growing well in spring and summer, they have a fresh green color. At the end of summer and into winter the trunks turn a dark red-green color.

The Huernia volkartii var. repens blooms here in the fall. She does this quite easily. The flowers grow from the sides of its stems. The flowers have a light yellow color with a dark red pattern on them.
