The Mammillaria carmenae f. rubrispina is a beautiful cactus species with a striking appearance. The Mammillaria carmenae f. rubrispina does not originally occur in nature, but was created by breeding Mammillaria carmenae cacti with red thorns.

The Mammillaria carmenae f. rubrispina has small copper-red colored thorns. These grow in a circle from the center of the areole. Because this Mammillaria carmenae f. rubrispina has many of these small thorns, this red glow is really beautiful. The color of the spines becomes more intense when this cactus is given a nice sunny spot.

The Mammillaria carmenae f. rubrispina occasionally produces side shoots. These then grow from the side of the main plant. The Mammillaria carmenae f. rubrispina eventually reaches a height of 10 cm and a diameter of 5 cm. The Mammillaria carmenae f. rubrispina is hardy down to -5 degrees when kept dry in winter.

When the Mammillaria carmenae f. rubrispina is happy, she will bloom several times in the spring and summer. A whole ring with all small white flowers will then appear at the top of the cactus.
