The Matucana madisoniorum is a special cactus species. In nature, this cactus occurs in a small area in the Amazonas region in Peru. Here this cactus grows on hills in dry forest areas.

The Matucana madisoniorum has a dark green color and does not have clear ribs like other cacti. The spines vary on this cactus. Some plants have no spines at all, or a single spine, and other cacti have many long, sturdy, dark brown spines. The Matucana madisoniorum is a slow grower and eventually grows to a size of 15 cm high and 10 cm wide.

The Matucana madisoniorum is an easy bloomer. If she is happy with you, she usually blooms several times in the summer. Large bright orange flowers grow from the top of the cactus.
