Information

This is a beautiful succulent plant with all kinds of small leaves and can grow into a large shrub of 2.5 to 5 meters high. Don't be alarmed, this takes a long time (this succulent can live up to 200 years) and you can easily prune or trim this succulent. This is why it is often used as a bonsai. This succulent does not lose its leaves. The leaves are fleshy. The leaf and stem color of the Portulacaria Afra variegata lemon is different from the normal and variegata Portulacaria afra. The leaf of the Portulacaria Afra variegata lemon is yellow in the center and the outer edges are green. The stem has a beautiful purple-red color. This color partly extends to the beginning of the leaf. The Portulacaria Afra variegata occurs naturally in the Karoo and the Western and Eastern Cape provinces of South Africa. The locals also call this succulent plant spekboom or elephantkos (elephant food). Elephants like the top leaves best and can eat up to 200 kg of them per day. Not only elephants eat the leaves of this succulent plant. The leaves are often used in salads in local restaurants. They have a fresh lemon flavor.
