This special Tephrocactus occurs naturally in southern Bolivia and northern Argentina. Here the Tephrocactus Rossianus grows high in the mountains on dry plains. The Tephrocactus Rossianus is a sward-forming plant and produces small swards in nature. Even though it is very hot there during the day and it freezes almost every night, this cactus survives there.

In the spring the Tephrocactus Rossianus will bloom with us. In order for the Tephrocactus Rossianus to bloom, this cactus must not be watered during the winter months. After the first watering in February, the flower buds appear. The flowers of the Tephrocactus Rossianus are intensely orange-brown-red and can grow up to 9 cm wide.
